AudioShard

*****CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT******
AudioShard continues and develops on the ideas first explored in the SoundMashine App but with a whole new set of features and its own distinctive interface. Each of its 16 tiles acts as an individual audio scratchpad with its own assignable FX which can be played on the tile.
AudioShard features a new and improved sound Engine which now offers polyphony and state saving.
Designed with the screen estate of the iPad in mind AudioShard offers a whole new sound composition experience.

AudioShard has the following features:
Realtime slicing based on peak amplitude
Multiple playback modes: autoslice, manual slice, manual select, loop accumulator
one shot tile and loop tile with time offset
Wav/AIF Input (via the Document Share folder) and Microphone Input, separate or combined
Project Save/Recall
Fx Preset Save and Recall
Fx Tile Settings Copy and Paste
Audio Export
SoundCloud Sharing
Pattern Sequencer with multiple banks
Tile Cancel Out and Tile Hold (Sticky) modes to build up montages of loops.

AudioShard with initially be available for the iPad with a version for the iPhone coming soon after

SoundMashine

SoundMashine is a granular synthesis based sound sampling and sequencing instrument that fully utilises touch gestures to provide a fast and easy to use compositional tool.
The app records sound using the devices built-in microphone, then divides the sound into slices which are then automatically assigned to each of the 16 screen tiles.
Each tile has its own set of parameters allowing you to adjust window size ,playback rate, pitch, feedback, delay and delay modulation, all of which are easily set by the swipe of a finger. Each parameter listed can also be randomised between a set of assignable values.
Using the sequencer function patterns of tiles can be recorded and played back at different speeds, again using simple touch gestures.

With its flexibility for working with sound at different pitches, rates and sequencer speeds, SoundMashine lends itself well to a variety of
compositional paradigms, from beat based through to drone or noise based music forms.
Features:
Audio Slicing based on Peak Amplitude
Gesture based sequencer with variable playback speed
Granular sound engine with playback rate, pitch, window size, delay, feedback
Hardware Requirements:
iPhone 3GS,4 or above
iPad
For sound output connection to an audio system or headphones is recommended. Please ensure when working with headphones output volume is set to a safe level.

A-Delay

A-Delay is a granular synthesis based delay processing unit, built with processing live audio input in mind. Live input coming into the iPhone or iPad either through the built-in microphone or through an input cable can be processed in real-time warping the sound either minimally or to the extreme.
Through the simple and clean interface audio can be pitch shifted, have feedback applied and of course delayed, combinations of these settings can create surreal soundscapes out of the most conventional of sounds. In Addition each of the effects levels can be automated allowing you to set parameter sweeps which playback automatically leaving you with the business of playing/sending in the audio input.
Features:
Realtime granular delay encompassing, controllable window size, pitch, feedback, delay, random delay
automatable sliders
Hardware Requirements:
iPhone 3GS or above
iPad or above

Why does he app store say this application needs a front facing camera?
If the code was written exclusively for iPad 2, ok, sort of (actually, that is sad as my iPad 1 accommodates every other music app worth having) but a camera?
Greg the app was originally developed for the iPhone 4 hence that restriction, I plan to make the app iPad 1 compatible, hopefully in the next update.
Excellent news, thanks for the follow up, I’ll be watching for the update!
Update now available
I’m referring to SoundMashine
When I try to buy SoundMashine from the Apple app store, I receive a message that says, “This App Is Incompatible With This iPad. This app requires a front facing camera.”
Really?
Hi Melanie the reason for this is that the app was originally developed on an iPhone 4, the next update, which hopefully will be available over the next week at some point fixes this issue.
The updated app is now on the store, no camera required!
Fantastic on iPad1, thanks so much.
@mra120
Day 2 with SoundMashine, brilliant!
